Staple Designs creates products with purpose.

About Staple Designs

Staple Designs was founded in 2024 by Samuel Driver with a simple belief: that great product design can solve real problems for real people.
We are a product development company that build our own products from the ground up, identifying genuine human needs, designing solutions from scratch, and taking them all the way through to manufacturing and deployment.
Our flagship product is the world’s first purpose-built flat-pack humanitarian heating stove. Designed and developed in-house, the flat-pack wood-burning stove was built for deployment in conflict-affected regions, engineered to be safe without formal training, efficient in real-world conditions, and manufacturable locally with minimal infrastructure.Through our initiative Heat for Humanity, the stove has been deployed to Ukrainian households during winter, coordinated across international NGO partners including UNHCR. Heat for Humanity continues independently, building on the foundations, partnerships, and product developed here.

The Slot Stove

Easy-to-Transport Flatpack Design

Our stoves are thoughtfully engineered to be flatpacked, making transportation and storage efficient and cost-effective. The flatpack design allows us to ship more units at once, ensuring that we can reach more families quickly, even in remote or crisis-stricken areas. Assembly is simple and requires no special tools, meaning that families can set up their stoves in minutes and immediately start using them for warmth and cooking. This design not only reduces logistical costs but also makes it easier to distribute stoves exactly where they're needed most.

Efficiency That Makes A Difference

Our stoves are designed with efficiency and sustainability in mind. By reducing wood consumption, we’re helping to preserve local forests and reduce deforestation, which can be a major environmental concern in crisis areas. Each stove also emits significantly less smoke than many stoves currently being delivered in Ukraine, contributing to cleaner air and healthier living conditions for families who often have no choice but to use indoor fires.

Versatile Cooking Solutions

Our wood-burning stoves are designed for versatile cooking, featuring a spacious surface that accommodates various pots and pans. The enclosed flame ensures safety and maximises heat efficiency, allowing meals to cook evenly and quickly. With user-friendly controls, families can easily adjust the flame for boiling or simmering. By providing reliable cooking solutions, our stoves foster togetherness, enabling families to share warm meals and strengthen community bonds during challenging times.

Quick and Easy to assemble

Assembly on-site is quick and straightforward, allowing us to set up a stove for a family in just minutes, with no special tools required.

“It is easy to transport, simple to Install. Despite its compact size, the stove kept our home warm during the winter”

— Olga & Vasil, 2025

Heat for Humanity was set up by Staple Designs in 2024 to deliver our humanitarian heating stove to communities in crisis-affected Ukraine. Born from the belief that good design can save lives, the project took a product built in-house and put it in the hands of the people who needed it most.In response to the ongoing heating crisis, families across Ukraine were left without power or functioning boilers through winter. Staple Designs developed a flat-pack wood-burning stove that could be shipped efficiently into conflict zones, assembled easily without tools or training, and provide reliable heating in the most challenging conditions. After 12 prototypes and rigorous field testing, the stoves were successfully deployed during two humanitarian trips to Ukraine.Alongside installation in homes, we partnered with Kremenchuk Vocational College to train local students in manufacturing the stove — creating a self-sustaining production capability and long-term impact beyond our initial deployment. The project was recognised with the UWE Entrepreneurial Futures Award (2023), securing a record-breaking £20,000 in funding.Heat for Humanity now runs independently.
